Paramjit “Romi” Chopra, MD
If you’re looking for a physician in the Chicago area to help treat your uterine fibroids, it’s very important to find someone who is extremely dedicated and skilled. Dr. Chopra is an accomplished Interventional Radiologist admired for his innovative, kind, authentic patient-centered care and a holistic approach to life. His care paradigm integrates the healing and nourishment of the spirit (soul), mind and the body.
Dr. Chopra’s philosophy is to provide cutting-edge healthcare that is most commonly found in the university setting and deliver it to the communities we reside in. Dr. Chopra is a renowned expert in his field and speaks nationally and internationally on various topics in Interventional Radiology, Endovascular Therapy, and Health Care Management.
Dr. Chopra is a graduate of the Seth Gordhandas Sunderas Medical College of Bombay University. He completed his fellowship and residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. In addition to functioning as the Director of the Midwest Institute of Minimally Invasive Therapies, Dr. Chopra is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Rush University in Chicago.
Dr. Chopra is an active member of several professional societies including the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiology Business Management Association, and the American Society of Physician Executives. In his off hours, Dr. Chopra enjoys spending time with his two children, reading and playing golf.
Dr. Sameer Ahmed, MD
Dr. Sameer Ahmed is a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, who received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University with highest honors (summa cum laude) and distinction in research. He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
He completed an Internal Medicine intern year at Yale University and returned to the Johns Hopkins Hospital for his residency in Diagnostic Radiology. He subsequently moved to Chicago where he completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University. Dr. Ahmed has published extensively in several top journals in vascular imaging and interventional procedures.
His research has earned him awards from several organizations, including Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, National Science Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Radiological Society of North America, and Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Ahmed is an active member of several specialty societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, and the Radiology Leadership Institute.
He is also a reviewer for the top journal in the field, the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Ahmed has expertise in all areas of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, with special interest in peripheral arterial and venous disease, interventional oncology, women’s health (uterine fibroid embolization and pelvic congestion syndrome), dialysis access management, spine disease/back pain, and prostate artery embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and daughter. He also enjoys playing tennis,running, and staying active in our greater Chicago community.
Eric J Dippel, MD
Eric J. Dippel, M.D. is a cardiovascular and peripheral vascular interventionist who specializes in comprehensive Vascular Medicine.
Dr. Dippel received his undergraduate degree with departmental honors in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University. He completed his medical school and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He completed his general fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. An advanced fellowship in coronary and peripheral vascular intervention was completed at the Ohio Heart Health Center, and the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Dippel is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Medicine, and Interventional Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and member of the American Heart Association Council of Clinical Cardiology, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. He is a Board Member of New Cardiovascluar Horizons and a founding member of the Horizons International Physicians Group.
Dr. Dippel’s research interests include: new medical devices, peripheral vascular intervention, critical limb ischemia, adjunctive pharmacology including anti-platelet, and anti-thrombin therapy, local drug delivery, vascular inflammation, and endothelial function. He has been the national and/or local principle investigator in over 50 clinical trials. He has been an invited faculty, presented abstracts and lectured at over 100 national meetings and international meetings. He has authored book chapters and published articles in numerous journals such as Catheterization and Cardiovascular Intervention, the Journal of Invasive Cardiology, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He serves on the editorial board for Vascular Disease Management. In addition, Dr. Dippel has several patents for medical devices.
Barry Summers, MD, PhD
Doctor Barry Summers is an established surgeon, who has been practicing the specialty of General Surgery for 20 years.
In 1989, he earned his dual MD / PhD degrees from The Chicago Medical School. He went on to his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago (UC) Hospitals in 1992. At UC he spent two years studying myocardial reperfusion injury; then in 1996 he completed his last two years of general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center. After residency, Dr. Summers remained at Mount Sinai as a Trauma Attending for three years, then went on to pursue private practice focusing on general surgery. Dr. Summers focuses on all aspects of the specialty; including breast, soft tissue, and abdomen, including minimally-invasive laparoscopic procedures
Dr. Summers is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, American College of Phlebology, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Margaret A. Kress MSN, RN, FNP-c
Margaret earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing from Northern Illinois University. She has over 30 years of experience in nursing, and the last four years as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). Her experience includes neonatal, pediatric critical care, adult critical care, and transport medicine as a flight nurse. Her advanced practice experience includes kidney transplant, primary care, hospice, skilled nursing care, and vascular services. She also served as an Associate Professor at North Park University in the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Program.
In Margaret’s many years of experience, she has been engaged in Quality Assurance, and has won many awards for her accomplishments in improving care.
Margaret has a passion for research and is currently collecting data to present to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner’s for publication. Margaret is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and an active member of the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Nurses Association.
Margaret enjoys skiing, golfing, crafts, cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Irene Kwon, PA-C
Irene received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Georgetown University and worked in pharmacogenetics research before graduating from the Duke University Assistant Program with a Masters in Health Sciences. She has over 10 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in the fields of Interventional Radiology, Neurosurgery, and Medical Oncology.
Irene is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistant and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Daniel Signorelli, PA-C
Dan graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he majored in genetics and earned a Bachelor of Science. He then went on to graduate from Midwestern University with a Masters in Medical Science. While in medical training he was elected as a class officer and was granted the Humanitarian Award for the 2010 graduating class.
Dan has been working with MIMIT for eight years. He is certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants) and is a member of AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants) and the IAPA.
Dan currently lives in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. He enjoys exploring the city via restaurants and sports, particularly softball and tennis. He spends as much time as possible with his wife and daughter.
